Are You Thinking Of Starting A Vending Machine Company?
By: A Bohart
Vending machine companies can be a wonderful source of extra income, and can grow into a profitable business and your best income source. Many people believe this is a get rich quick business, and that is what attracts them to vendor machines. They dont understand that it takes hard work and a diligent attitude to make a vending machine company work.
When you start with your vendor machine company, you will need to find a great location with plenty of foot traffic. This is not always that easy as many of these locations already have a contract with a vendor, and 9 times out of 10 when approached with a deal to bring in more machines the answer will be no. You will need a unique approach and an idea that will set you apart from the rest. Maybe a vending machine that offers energy drinks and snacks, or an interactive machine that involves the buyer in a game of chance. With all of the competition out there you need to have a gimmick to get your foot in the door. You will also need to know what type of people frequent the establishment, and what type of product they will buy.
When you have found the location it is time to purchase the machine(s). They can also be rented, and this may be a better idea for those who dont know how to repair the machine in case of a breakdown. Having one machine will not make you rich, or even give you enough to pay all of your bills. You will need many machines on your route to make enough income to make a living.
You will need to service your machines once a week. This means filling them with product, collecting the money, and keeping them clean and in working order. You will also need to take any overhead out of this money. The fee you are paying the store owner, what you are paying for product, wear and tear on your car, and gas to get you where you need to go.
Lets say you start out with two machines that you were able to pay cash for. These machines are doing fairly well and grossing $150 a week per machine. Here is how your cash flow might work:
Income $300 per week
10% for store $ 30
Inventory-$ 60
Gas for car $ 40
Car upkeep $ 40
Total gross $130 This money is subject to yearly taxes by the government.
This sounds pretty negative, but you will need to be realistic when you decide to start a vending company. You will not need to spend more than about 20 minutes per machine for service, which makes the money good for the amount of time you spend. But you will also need to save a bit of money to expand your business. You may be able to cut down on the amount you spend for gas and upkeep on your car, but how much will that be?
You need to know everything about starting a vending machine company before you put your money into it. You can learn about the vending machine business by checking out websites on the subject, or reading one of the many ebooks on the subject.
